Kinderhook Farm

overlook

Kinderhook Farm lies in the Hudson Valley of New York. The farm's several hundred acres of rolling hay meadows and pastures allow us to raise our beef cattle and sheep on a 100% grass and legume diet that includes no grain, antibiotics, growth hormone, or animal by-products.

For a review of Kinderhook Farm grass-fed beef follow this link to the Village Voice:  blogs.villagevoice.com/forkintheroad/archives/2009/11/battle_of_the_d_18.php

Our grass fed pasture system is better for the animal and our environment, resulting in nutritionally superior beef. The most important thing that we do is allow our animals to live naturally on the pastures of our farm, and graze the forages growing in our fields.

We have recently added a flock of sheep to the farm that are being raised on a 100% grass and legume diet.  The sheep help to diversify the ecosystem of the pastures as well as being a pleasure to look at as they graze the pastures of the farm.

Grass-fed meat is lower in both overall fat and calories, and has the advantage of providing more omega-3 fats. For more information on grass-fed beef and omega-3, visit www.eatwild.com.

During the summer months we harvest the excess pasture and feed it as hay during the winter. All of the animal wastes are returned to the land and become nutrients for the next grass cycle.  Raising animals on pasture is a sustainable method of farming.

We offer individually packaged cuts of grass-fed beef at our Farm Store along with eggs from our pastured laying hens.  We also accept orders for whole and half beef as well as bundles (30 pounds of assorted cuts) and this fall we have lamb available as well.

Please contact us for more information.
